wondering, the zip file we download has the texed file that explains how to change the codes, but what i wont to know is the update file, if we havent made any changes to our 1.4.1 mod, do we use the text file and the update file or can we just run the update file and all the stuff in the text file will be uploaded??

You have to do all the edits first.
Then when done, you do the /install/update_to_latest.php so the update will take effect.

The update is two parts... the file edits and the database update.

Here's the process I followed and it worked perfectly.

1. Download backups of all files to be edited.
2. Open install instructions in Crimson Editor.
3. Open each file in Crimson Editor, make edits, save as same name in an 'Editedfile' folder so I still have my backup files intact.
4. Once all files have been edited, I upload them overwriting files.
5. Upload install folder from update.
6. Visit http://mysite.com/forum/install/update_to_latest.php
7. Delete install folder

Done.
