Is there a way to set a default avatar for everyone that does not have one?

Heres another way,
First upload whatever images you want to images/avatar (make sure they are sized appropriately as indicated in your admin gen config).

Next go to admin/user admin/ranks and add the ranks according to how many posts they make.

For example you can have a n00b rank for 1-5 posts
a member rank for 5-25 posts etc etc.
Each rank is accompanied by an image an title.

As they post more the avatar auto changes to what ever image you have put in its place.

Its one way to promote people to post espicially if you start them off with a butt fugly default avatar.

All the avatars are custom made my by myself. Its also a good way to help get donations which in turn basically pay for you hosting bill.
I havent spent any out of pocket costs in close to a year hosting wise, the members seem to gravitate towards gaining higher rank since the addition of the new avatars.
