De.scription and Message

allthough I have posted a URL to the website, let me first explain that this problem has occured on every single Integramod 1.4.1 install I have ever done, and come to think of it IM 1.4.0 as well, and it's getting old so now I ask.

I go through and set ALL of my permissions. Go back and double checked phpbbsecurity.php for chmod666 no good. So I re do it and still it defaults back to 644. I reset it once again using myftp program to 666 submit and what do you know, back to 644. So now Im thinking it is a fluke in my ftp program.

So I get on the server control panel and go in and sure enough, it said it was chmod to 666. I reset it back to 644 and it stuck. So I THEN reset it back to 666 and it stayed. Now the fun begins.

Upon install, phpBB security is jacked and I have to go back and manually fix the file so I can set admins and mods. This is NOT an isolated event. I have installed Integramod closer to a couple hundred times on half as many different servers and this happens every single time no matter what server or control panel (Direct Admin, Plesk, Or CPanel.

I went back on the server after the install was all said and done and website up and running and sure enough, it said the phpBB security was chmod to 666. If that be the case, why does phpBB security jack itself up on every install?

I have put this off in the past as a server issue, but a couple hundred websites later.............

I'm fresh out of guesses. The easiest way I found to fix this was after the site is up and running, get a copy of phpBB security and upload the installer.php and run it. Then go in and edit the phpBB security file manually. Frankly, this is getting old real fast like. Am I the only one having this issue here? And I FIRMLY believe that has a little something to do with the backups failing left and right every day of the week that others have reported over and over and over and over again. Something with the Integration and install has to out of sorts somewhere. If it wasnt, it would work the way it should in the first place. And before I get flamed here, Im not bashing Integramod, its just the install Im bashing. If I install a phpBB board and lay IM Portal over the top, then install phpBB security, I NEVER have this problem. It allways installs on the first try.

Any Ideas? I'm fresh out. Oh and for the record, this is the ONLY file that has this problem. <img>

I have never had that issue, thankfully enough for me. It would be pretty bad for a moderator to be 'bashing' the project... <img>

Is the spelling of experiences intentionally 'experences' in the website name?

Hmmmmmmmm.... Now Im stumped. I have no clue why this does this to me.

And yeah, she spelled the domain wrong when she registered it. It was a typo gone wrong.

I just odnt understand on all them different servers and control panels why it happens, but yet on IM Portal install and installing security seperately, it works out right.

And yeah bashing would be bad, lol. I wouldnt do that. <img> Im just flustered by this error. And Im fixing to have to go and do it to her website here in a minute or 5 as soon as shes done setting it all up to her liking.

I dont think ive ever run into this either and Ive installed so many times i wouldnt even try to count them all ...lol
My guess is that i has to do with your ftp client. Ive had instances where cuteftp6 would tell me all my chmods were correct but the file manager said otherwise, but ive been running cuteftp7 now for a few years it seems and ive never had a chmod prob since

well, heres the catch. Originally, it was the ftp client that told me the file was chmod to 644. After many tried of getting it to 666 and it allways going back to 644, I then logged in to the control panel on the server that the site was being hosted on and double checked there and it was infact the server that told me it was chmod correctly to 666.

Not believeing what I was seeing, I set the chmod on the server for that file to 644 and got out of the directory. Came back and it was where I set it to. So I set it BACK to 666 thinking all was well and infact it was not. So by this time, ftp client was allready long gone out of the picture. So now I have the issue with the server and files.

Im getting ready to run a test install on MY server and only use the control panel to chmod. Im not even going to touch the ftp client and see what happens that way. I just love testing....Makes life so much fun <img>

Thanks for the replies fellas.

i havent run into the chmod problem but ive run into the same thing with security not setting it self on 3 different new installs on 3 different servers using ftp program or cp and have to manually pull the info from db to enter into php security file after the fact to get admin & mods to be correct - none of the back ups work and none of the ip trackers work

yeah so thats basically the same issue I been having as well. right down to the T.

I allways just upload installer.ph from a phpBB security install and run it. When you do it automatically sets your admins and modsfor you and you have to go into phpBBsecurity.php and edit the file accordingly. It tells youwhat to find and waht to replace it with.

I have done it the database way before, but I find the more I stay out of the databse the better of I am <img>
