Dates : posted vs. last modified

PostAuthor: sanji » Sat Jan 17, 2009 3:52 am

Hi guys,

On my forum Secret Japan, we have many travel guides written by our members that are long posts with maps / pictures / many information. Those posts can be quite old, dating sometimes 3 years ago, but we update them on regular basis.

I thus would like to change the date found on several places of the forum as the "message date" to the date the message was last modified.

On the paper, it seems easy: I would like to use the post_edit_time instead of the post_time found in the posts table on the following places :
- the last topic block in the portal
- the list of messages from a specific forum (viewforum.php)
- the message itself (viewtopic.php)

Unfortunately, it seems really much more difficult than I expected, as I find literally hundreds of occurrences of the dates in the pages I am considering to change.

I would really appreciate if someone with an idea on how to do that could help me here...

Thanks,

sanji

I would like to change the "message date" to the "last modified date", both in the message itself, the forum and the portal.
