I tried mass email on my new server, and didn't receive naything to my forum account, so I went into cPanel to check my email accounts. and found that none of the emails were sent.

I have about 2000 members for starters.
The reply I got was:

I do see I can only email 250 and hour.
But what is with the first several?
Is there a problem, or is this just because of exceeding my limits?

I, too, had several problem with the mass email function.

Not that 250 limit, though, so this is probably host related.

Finally, I decided to export the email addresses and send an email via outlook... Less practical, but at least working.

Sounds like a work around.

Is it easy to export just the email addresses and import them into something like Windows Live mail to create a mailing list?

I was told a mod Mega Mail will allow mass emailing in bunches.

Might be useful for Helter on the upcoming version.

Seems mass emailing is frowned on because sending out 1 email to 1000 or so members, is a no no by those like Yahoo, Hotmail and others. They will ban your server, domain and ip for spamming.
Apparently these 2 mods allow you to set the max number of members to mail to at one time so not to cause you problems.

Basically what these mods do, is if you have 5000 members, and your host only allows 350 emails per hour, you can change the settings in the ACP to accomodate. You set it up to send max members of 350 or whatever your host limits are, and the delay between emails (in my case 60minss). Then when you send a mass email, it will send 1 email to 350 members, and 60mins later it will send 350 more, and so on until all are sent.
Only problem with this would be, that if 1 single email is sent by your site, from person to person, or reply to thread notification, it would put you at 351 emails in 60mins, which goes over my limit.

Therefore setting it to say 300 instead of 350, will allow for your site to function and gives you a cushion to allow for other emails.

So far, I exported the email addresses via phpmyadmin. Fast and reliable.

Maybe the guys can fix the ACP to add a link.

Seems to be working, but I frigged it up and put 60 instead of 3600 for the time delay, and I have to wait an hour to test it again. Maxed my email limit. LOL
