Well for a while now i have been using a cms called E107 (http://www.e107.org) and lately have been wondering what to do about our forums. Seeing as how the forums that come with E107 don't have all the features we are looking for. We have asked on there forums for support about this issue and they gave us the classic line of "I don't see why no one wants to use the built in forums its simple basic and clean". So you can see where that's going i have considered moving to another cms but currently we are only using e107 for bigger files like video game mods/patches . I am just not sure where to go from here.

I have used e107 in the past and as a matter of fact, am still an admin/web Developer on the site. I am not going to bad mouth any one else's products though out of respect. I can say this though, I have gotten the same results as far as support goes that you got.

I tried to find a e107 to phpBB conversion script and was very unsuccessful. I found one, but it was a flop. I am not saying bail out of it or stay with it either one. I find IM 1.4.1 is much easier to use than e107 and the support here tends to be a bit friendlier. And I speak for myself and not as an admin here.

It is all a matter of personal preference really. I wish you the best of luck in witch ever path your website takes. If you need any help if you decide to use Im 1.4.1 don't be afraid to ask. Around here, the only stupid question is the one that was NOT asked. <img>
